I know X-Men: First Class is doing its own thing, and it’s cast is composed of a random B and C listers from the comics. Though I’m excited to see First Class, I’m gonna miss seeing the first 5 X-Men, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, and Iceman together on screen.
I was real disappointed that X-Men 3 is the only of the X films which had the had the 5 original X-Men together on on screen, and they didn’t show them on screen together at any point. Granted its in the shallow end of the spectrum of X3 disappointments with Xavier, Cyclops, and Jean Grey’s death, Rouge and Mystique getting depowered, Phoenix not showing any motivation or redemption for being evil, and of course the overall lack of character development outside of Wolverine. Showing the 5 original X-Men together would have been a nice wink and nod to the nerds of the world and would have mitigated the films problem slightly.
A recent trend on YouTube is to make fake trailers culled from clips of other movies. Usually they’re pretty low key and are random shots strung together with the song “Lux Æterna”, others are better than the actual trailers Hollywood puts out. I thought this was a cool trailer, if for no other reason than seeing the original five together in action. Maybe one day we’ll get a reboot or some twisting of continuity to get a movie like this.
