In a 4 billion plus dollar deal Disney has purchased Lucasfilm. First Marvel Comics, Now Star War, Tomorrow the world.
The big news about this is that they are planning to make a 7th star wars film to be a sequel to the original trilogy. Leia will now count herself amongst the Disney princesses. Star Wars 8 and 9 are soon to follow thereafter. Apparently Lucasfilm has an extensive storylines planned out for the continuation of the Star Wars Saga.
For fans this could be either very good news, or very bad news. Of late Disney has a history of producing high quality, fantasy blockbusters. (Pirates of the Caribbean comes to mind). On the other hand they have a history of pushing said blockbusters past their natural shelf life. (Pirates of the Caribbean comes to mind). The prequel trilogy was fairly awful but a sequel trilogy could show a great deal of potential if handled properly by the right screen writers. Lucas will not be writing or directing. With oversight from other creative visionaries Sat Wars 7,8,9 could avoid the pitfalls of 1,2,3.
