Where I’ve Been

Planet

Good people of the interwebs, how I’ve missed you. It’s been months since I’ve been seen on The Epic Beyond. No articles, no comics, not even a review. Well I swear I have a good excuse. I’ve been writing … alot.

Now I know it doesn’t sound like something that should keep me away for as long as it has, but before you start throwing rotten fruit for saying  the “dog ate my homework”, hear me out. In the last few months I’ve finished the manuscript for a novella, rewrote short story bringing it to novel length, and started and finished a novel from scratch. I’ve been busy to say the least. So what does all this mean? Last year I self published my first novella on Amazon. If you haven’t checked it out,  look up The Jazz Age. It’s available as an e book at the moment. Besides having a story to tell, The Jazz Age was an experiment testing what I can do with self publishing options. With this well of rough manuscripts, I want to try repeating that experiment.

Besides that I have another project coming up in November. I plan to participate in National Novel Writing Month. http://nanowrimo.org/ Basically this is a writing contest where the challenge is to complete at least  50,000 words of a novel in 30 days. I’ve been meaning to join it for the last three years but I always got distracted by something else. The only rewards are the glory of having made it, and a complete manuscript. If I am a success, this will bring the queue of self publishing projects to 4 rough drafts. After that it’s full steam ahead to put the stuff online. That means proofreading, editing, formatting, drawing covers (and maybe illustrations), getting  copyrights, and I’m sure another dozen things I haven’t foreseen.   Oof.

Ladies and gentlemen We’re off to the races! While this frenzy of writing and editing is going on I’ll be posting facebook, twitter and blog updates to track my status. Something tells I’ll need the encouragement particularly during November.  Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll be able to get some semblance of a regular schedule with my comic, and who knows maybe a blog update here and there too!

Till then Tallyho!
