It started as a child’s fantasy, and quickly grew into the fevered obsession of a mad man.
The Humble Origin
Since I was quite young I’ve told stories to my two younger brothers. Some were star trek inspired science fiction and others were cute fantasy tales, but the one that stuck the most was my superhero adventure. Superheroes always resonated with me, whether it was Herakles the Son of Zeus or Superman the Last Son of Krypton. What little boy hasn’t tied a towel around his neck and run around the back yard pretending to fly. My superhero was Meteor Zan, who coincidentally had two superhero brothers with the same names as mine. Originally the story was a simple escapist fantasy. Three kids get powers and save the universe.
The Hero’s Journey
As I grew my stories stayed with me expanding in scope, complexity, and maturity. Instead of Meteor Zan, my superhero took the name Liquid Silver. I added characters, and conflict. Villains and allies crept up and added color. Soon my semi-auto biographical story as a superhero obtained a life of its own. In an act of supreme narcissism, I decided if I’d spent all my spare mental energy for the last 12 year on this fictional world, it had to be recorded in some form. I must share the adventures with the world. It wasn’t an option anymore. It was a duty. (What did I say about a madman with a fevered obsession?)
The Epic Mission
With a completed manuscript in one hand, and access to a web blog in the other, I will document the process of self publishing. Stay tuned for updates, excerpts, illustrations, and eventually the novel’s debut. The journey of an aspiring novelist is a lonely one. I’m always looking for feedback, contributions, or donations.
