Marvel’s Herc and Cho

HERC

In addition to the round of sequels Marvel Studios is developing, it’s been stated that there will be a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show. I’m pretty excited about this as it can give a different perspective on the Marvel cinematic universe as well as give  awesome second tier character a chance to shine. So what super humans should appear in a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show? There are alot of options. Some of the immediate ideas that spring to mind are Luke Cage and Iron Fist as the Heroes for Hire, Daredevil, or a Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel. My personal pick would be to bring Marvel’s Incredible Hercules series written by Greg Pak that ran from 2008-2010 into S.H.I.E.L.D.

One is the Mortal Son of Zeus, One is the eighth smartest person in the world. Together they travel across America and fight crime!
The Incredible Hercules started after the World War Hulk event as a filler title for the Hulk comic to be rebooted. It partnered Hercules, with Amadeus Cho a young super intelligent teenager with the ability to see probabilities and manipulate them. (For a sample of Cho’s best moments click here) One had brains the other brawn and they adventures together. It was very funny and highly imaginative. The comic series was one of my favorite modern retellings of Greek myths. Zeus had recently died and to survive the Greek Pantheon lived on earth establishing the Olympus Group a large scale mega company. Instead of worshipers, they had stockholders. Hera inherited the thunderbolt and became the CEO and was of course up to something nefarious. The rest of the Olympians all took roles in society that gelled with their mythological realms. Hercules being a wandering hero of myth, became a traveling superhero in the Marvel world. Together he and Amadeus battled mythological foes, as well as Marvel’s own threats, including Namor the Submariner, the Skrulls, S.H.I.E.L.D. and other Supervillains.

So why would this make a good addition to a S.H.I.E.L.D TV series?

Both Herc and Cho are highly dangerous very powerful super people.S.H.I.E.L.D. could be trying to regulate them thinking they were responsible for the destruction that follows in their wake. Marvel’s version of Hercules is alot of fun to see in action. He is the kind of bro you’d want to get drunk and hit on women with. The Whereas Thor is regal with a bit of nobility, Hercules just wants to live his life to the fullest. They regularly brawl to see who is the strongest and the toughest. Though it would be tough to get movie Thor into a TV show, they could allude to this rivalry with Hercules constantly being mistaken for Thor. No one will believe he’s the real Herc just a standard strong man hero. Amadeus on the other hand is a nerdy yet wise ass teenager who is very smart but not always the most logical person in the world. A contest calculated him as one of the smartest people in the world and subsequently his home town was destroyed. S.H.I.E.L.D. is after him because he is the only survivor. While on the run on he meets Herc who takes Amadeus under his wing and tries to mold him into a his style of hero. Alot of humor can play into this duo, as Hercules is a good hearted bafoon, and Cho has a snarky sense of humor. The two heroes balance each other out, in a father-son/mentor-student/brotherly relationship.   When they eventually do an Avengers 2 or 3, maybe Herc and Cho can cameo.

If anyone out there at Disney or Marvel wants me to write a full treatment I’d be glad to oblige. I’ve got alot of love for this series and it would make a great TV show. No go make it happen!
