Epic Spotlight: Adrianne Palicki Cast as Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is returning to the small screen in an adaptation helmed by Boston Legal’s David E. Kelley. The series has been described as “A reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.”

I was never a huge fan of Wonder Woman. Personally I think the concept tries too hard to be feminist and in effect undermines its own message, but thats a rant for another day. I still respect the character for her place in the DC Comics mythos, and if I had a daughter I’d rather she use Princess Dianna of Themiscara as a role model than, say any of the Disney Princesses. But I digress. It was recently announced that Adrianne Palicki has been cast as the titular heroine. I thinks Palicki is a good choice as an actress. She is strong looking and tall (5’11”). She isn’t a stranger to superhero fantasy. I can imagine her saving the day in one way or another. As a fan of Supernatural most will recognize her as Jessica Moore, Sam’s doomed girlfriend. She also play Kara/Lindesy Harrison in Smallville. I find it very encouraging that she allegedly collects comic books, and is fan of Supergirl. Check out this quote from IMDB

“I would love to do Broadway, I don’t think there’s anything more amazing than theatre. Okay, Supergirl is number one. Maybe I could be Supergirl on Broadway! That would be perfect.”

In any scenario I’d be willing to give it a shot.
