Review: Community “Competitive Wine Tasting”

After several episodes focusing on the community crews extra curricular activities  we return to the class room. We visit the gang as they sign up for their elective classes. This wasn’t so much a cohesive episode as it was a series of vignettes around the characters. That being said, it worked. We get more one on one pairings which let the characters shine.

When Jeff and Pierce take a wine tasting class Piece falls in love with a young asian woman and gets engaged. Jeff is suspicious. Not because he’s watching out for Piece but because the woman shot him down. In a drama class together Britta starts to develop feelings for Troy, when he reveals his uncle touched his ‘no-no’. The only problem is Troy made it up. Meanwhile Abed takes a class on the tv show “Who’s the Boss” and proceeds to prove the teachers entire premise for the class is wrong.
I think the most interesting element of this episode was the potential for a Britta Troy romance. Initially it seemed like Jeff and Britta were going to be the long standing romantic hold out for the series, but they’ve seemed to shuffle the deck a little bit. Jeff and Annie’s chemistry is much better than Jeff and Britta, so why not mix and match. Troy’s “big kid” nature, and Britta’s need to be with flawed people to fix them can play well off of each other. Both are ridiculous for completely different reasons and it has the potential  to be very funny. I don’t know if they’ll continue this romance at all, but I’d recommend it.
All in all this was a good episode.
On a scale of 1 to Epic (Epic= 10) I’d give this episode a 7.1
